I’ve always loved the Painted Desert and the Petroglyphs of New Mexico and Arizona. There is something about the barren tundra that makes you see differently. The subtle tones of sandy beige, warm terracotta, and dusty browns become vibrant, and the heat keeps you humble. The Indigenous Hopi, Pueblo and Zuni tribes of Arizona and the Mogollon and the Hohokam tribes of New Mexico. were survivors! I admire their strength, and their belief that everything is precious, no one owns this land, and we are stewards here to protect it.
I started these hikes through the Petrified Forest National Park at 7ish…and you could still feel the heat throughout your body and soul. Remember to bring lots of water too! Safe Travels!
