The South Coast Trail and the Jurassic Coast Trail were a rollercoaster of steep hills, panoramic ocean views, castles, beautiful beaches and lots of rainy days.
My mind would play games to make it up one hill just to see if I was going to go all the way down and up again for hours and hours. My magic number was 222 steps before I could rest. As the days past that number became easier to reach. I felt stronger, healthier, and more alive than I have felt in a long time.
The views were spectacular and yet there were few souls around. I felt like I was the only one on these trails. Every once in a while I would see a couple walking for the day, but rarely did I see a backpacker. If one should cross my path they were shocked that I was doing this solo, “and at my age” ; ).
The most famous spot on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door is an impressive natural limestone archway standing in the sea.
