Gypsy Life

By Sigi Scigliano

I must have been a gypsy in another life. I love change, I love getting lost and rediscovering these hidden gems inside old temples, churches, and monasteries. I feel most alive when walking around an area I’m not familiar with. My senses are awakened. I hear the wind whispering sacred stories of old (wisdom). I feel the cobblestones beneath my feet carrying me onward to majestic places. I smell the fragrant flowers and taste the delicious delicacies as I pass tiny shops hidden and open to ones who venture outside the tourist destinations. I see not only the magnificent architecture of these ancient places but the destruction that time has cast upon such places as well. I feel alive with wonder, in awe of what lies before me. It lifts me and carries me around the next bend to find another mystical place to explore. Once again I keep myself open to endless possibilities. As Robert Frost so eloquently said; “Two roads diverged and I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference.
