I just got back from the Yucatan visiting, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Isla Mujere, snorkeling the second largest coral reef in the world, Mesoamerican Barrier Reef also known as the Great Mayan Reef. This diverse ecosystem is home to over 500 fish species, 60+ coral types, manatees, sea turtles, manta rays, whales, sharks and so many other diverse species. This important biodiversity stretches over 1,000 kilometers (600 kms) along the Caribbean coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. It was an amazing adventure and such a gift to spend my 68th birthday with my family.
