As a teacher, every summer since Emma was little, we would take the entire summer off and go on an adventure. I’m still so blessed to get to share these magical, mystical moments with my sweet, sensational, sassy, smart 26-year-old daughter, Emma.
When she was young, I used to bribe her. I know, I never thought I would be a mother to bribe her, but…it’s soooo worth it! It is amazing what my child would do to get her own strawberry ice cream cone as a treat after hiking a 10,000-foot mountain or camping cross-country for the summer. Granted, she was very young when we started these summer adventures. However, as she got older, the bidding war began. One year, she said she wouldn’t complain once, “not once” (I quote!!!), If I switched rooms with her. (Ya..you guessed it those teen years ; ) What would you have done? Huh?

Hello Sigi, I saw your post in FB and found it quite funny that you question yourself being of gypsy heritage. Well asking myself the same question I easily come into the world of deep thinking….but no, gypsy is neither in my blod nor in my sole. Some hundred years back or so i might have been an explorer instead.
I just came back from a trip to Australia. Best thing I did so far. If you look for something special totally close to nature and the wonders of the world this is it. Best way to travel is possibly to buy a decent 4×4 (Landcruiser what else..) putting a roof tent on it for short term ourback trips and coupling it with an offroad caravan for convinience and socialising at camp sites or work and travel. This is a great outfit for a 6-12 month trip.
I plan to do this in 2026 and can provide some guidance.
